Thank you for “getting on the bus” and supporting Roanoke Catholic in “Roanoke Valley Gives” on March 16.
The official results will be announced at an awards ceremony on March 22. But based on preliminary standings, we ranked 2nd in both “most dollars raised” ($38,200) and “most unique donors” (315) — a remarkable achievement considering more than 125 of the region’s leading nonprofit organizations participated in the event.
For our efforts, we earned $11,000 in incentive prizes, bringing the total raised for Roanoke Catholic in one day to nearly $50,000!
Thanks so much to Woodson Honda and the Celtic Booster Club for providing the inspiring matching gifts. Thanks to Foundation for Roanoke Valley for coordinating this incredible event. And thanks to each of you for believing in Roanoke Catholic School and our mission of blending learning with faith and faith with daily life.
Due to the age and unreliability of our existing buses, Roanoke Catholic has spent more than $55,000 since 2014 on both maintenance and the rental of charter buses to transport our teams to sporting events and our students on field trips and other school-related activities.
Roanoke Catholic receives no government funding and relies solely on tuition and charitable contributions to operate. A new bus will save us significant transportation dollars and allow us to devote even more funds to our financial aid programs so that all who desire a Roanoke Catholic education can afford to do so.
