RCS is excited to offer two new after-school enrichment programs starting in September: Chess Club and Bricks 4 Kidz.

Open to students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, Chess Club will meet on Mondays beginning Sept. 26, 3:15-4:15 PM, in the library. Club membership is free. “Whether you’ve never played before or know what a castle or the French defense is, Chess Club is a great way to have fun and problem-solve,” says Todd Brickman and Anita Jeyakumar, RCS parents and club organizers. A representative from the Roanoke Valley Chess Club will be present at the orientation meeting to describe its opportunities for young chess players. For more information contact Mr. Brickman, 314.807.7032 or [email protected].

Bricks 4 Kidz invites RCS students in Kindergarten to Grade 5 to experience hands-on engineering fundamentals as they build models using Lego Bricks. Bricks 4 Kidz will meet on Wednesdays, 3:00-4:00 PM, for 10 weeks Oct. 4 through Dec. 14. Cost is $125. There will be a free demo class Sept. 28 at 3:00 PM.
